About the Event

Kids Create Change is hosting a community Lantern Floating Ceremony event as part of ASAPIA Heritage Month. The event is inspired by the ubiquitous lantern festivals and traditions found across Asia, South Asia and the Pacific Islands. This event is designed to offer an opportunity for community members to come together to honor the losses resulting from the pandemic including loved ones, homes, jobs, relationships, special events and celebrations etc. The past 2 years have forced many to experience and process these losses in isolation. This event offers community members a chance to come together with others to honor and remember through a collective act of floating lanterns on the Lagoon.

Kids Create Change will host 3 Lantern Making Workshops in May. To register for a Lantern Making Workshop visit: www.kidscreatechange.org.  Please register for the ceremony on Eventbrite BEFORE registering for a workshop.

Please note that we have a limited number of lanterns and lanterns will not be available for making at the ceremony.

If registration is sold out that means we've run out of lanterns BUT you can still attend the ceremony without a lantern! Add your name to the waitlist so we know you're coming and you will have an opportunity to make a land luminary on site.
